Born in Curitiba (1986), currently living in São Paulo. With a keen photographic eye, Raphael Dias’ imagery explores interpretations of landscapes. A multifaceted and self-taught visual artist, he began his journey in photography, later exploring drawing and collage before finding his artistic expression in tapestry— a medium through which he has been showcasing his visual strength since 2020, with rich textures and historical research.

His artistic path is interconnected through composition as a whole— always reordering information in an aesthetic and functional way— as seen in the Diária Gallery (of which he is co-founder and curator) and in the spaces that shape his daily life, such as his studio and home. His work reflects a deep contemplation of living, inhabiting, architecture, and the history of built spaces.

Inspired by the Modernist movement, his practice revolves around themes tied to his radiant essence, the curves of Brazilian architecture, and the observation of nature’s expressions. He creates and revisits imaginary landscapes, forms, and contours linked to his experiences and emotions.

His tapestry compositions emerge from explorations in form and structure, transformed through threads in the meditative process of weaving. His work stitches together time, featuring intricate textures, movement, and organic shapes crafted with detailed manual labor.
